Ek Medal Mila Maa..:)..!!!

'Ek medal mila, Maa!' "Going through hell... Keep going," says a desk graffiti in one of the classrooms at the National Defence Academy. This is told by my Friend who got into it after completing his 12th. I also tried but could not able to make it. Not an issue with that i have tried many times still trying to get into the prestigious academy. The life in academy is fully adventurous. Every action shows discipline. The uniform soaks all the pain , hardwork , sweat during your 4.5 years course at the end of it you will get the Uniform with stars on your shoulder.Someone has truly said that "Stars on shoulders of the soldier are brighter than million stars on the sky" . It is the proud moment for every parent when they put stars on the shoulders of thier son/daughter. Many of us have the misconception in our mind that it is very easy to get into armed
forces .Let me tell you that last year nearly 2 lacs students gave NDA and these students are competing for 250 seats in India Army Navy and Airforce. The whole process includes Written and SSB interview . After clearing all these students still could not able to guess that they would able to make it to the all india merit list...:)
In other words "THE PLEASURE OF DRIVING A BMW, HONDA CITY CAN BE PURCHASED BUT THE PLEASURE OF DRIVING A "GYPSY" IS ONLY FOR SOME FEW LUCKY PERSON...;)"

17-18 is the age of faccha cadet(First Year cadet..:P), that they are binding themselves to a life of immense hardship, silent sacrifices, incompatible pay, separation from families- but the satisfaction that their spine will always be straight. Ordinary boys like Arun Khetrapal, NJ Nair, Sandeep Unnikishnan,Manoj Pandey, Yogender Singh Yadav, Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon ,Vijayant Thapar , Vikram Batra, Mohit Sharma and dozen others and who turned into legends.(Can't recognize most of the names?Tellyou later.) To give you an idea, one of them ran cross-country witha fractured leg - yes, a fractured leg - at the NDA just so he wouldn'tlet his squadron down. There are others who have fought wars andoperated in CI ops even when they were
advised strict bedrest...In An ssb interview The President of the selection center asked Captain Manoj Pandey that why do youwant to join Indian Army. He said that i want Parman veer Chakra as the Gallantry award .

I refuse to believe that the boys who show such spirit and courage at such a young age would go about killing women and children. It is easier to believe that the sun goes around the earth. These soldiers do not ask for any favors  Just some understanding. Every officer I know is almost embarrassed to talk about his "heroism"."It's no big deal,"they say. That's what they signed up for. A Param Vir Chakra winner, for instance, went home to nurse half a dozen bullet wounds, told his mother "Ek medal mila, Ma," and forgot to mention that he had single handedly captured a Pakistani position. His mother knew only when his village heard it on the radio and mobbed his hut.The Indian soldier comes from a family like yours and mine. He is a part of society and is subject to the same pulls and pressures. Inflation pinches him, he has his own domestic problems, has elderly parents to look after, and is worried about the education of his child.

Some words from the "Ashayein" song(film : IQBAL)
"Kuch aisa karke dikha, khud khush ho jaye khuda" . I truly believe that dying while serving your nation is far better(no comparision) than dying in an accident or by any disease  I am not concluding my article because i want the readers to conclude my article.
